Jan. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- New York, NY,  January 2012 --- New York children’s charity Maya’s Hope officially launches the “Happy Story Club”, to use the ancient power of storytelling to bring attention and aid to impoverished children in the Philippines and Ukraine.

The “Happy Story Club” aims to unite people to create Happy Stories for children in need worldwide. An uplifting story will be featured every month, and the stories will be shared exclusively via email, Facebook and on the website http://mayashope.org.

The first story tells the journey of an Indianapolis family that adopts a mentally retarded Ukrainian boy, after seeing his picture on the mayashope.org website. They later discovered that the boy was misdiagnosed, and that he is actually perfectly healthy.

Read the story here: Episode 1: “The boy who is fascinated by cameras” (http://mayashope.org/2012/01/03/the-boy-who-is-fascinated-by-cameras/)

“One of the things that inspired us was an old Chinese Proverb that said, “It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.” So, we decided to start the Happy Story Club to unite people to create one Happy Story a month for children in need around the world. At the end of every month, we’ll feature the best Happy Story that we've created for the children, exclusively on Maya's Hope.” - Maya Rowencak

“Storytelling is one of the most powerful and ancient forms of communication that is overlooked by most organizations these days.” - Maya Rowencak

“A good story not only creates an emotional connection. It helps people remember the message, and feel excited to share it with others.” - Maya Rowencak
