Two graduates of the Sunrise Aviation FAA Approved Instrument Rating Airplane course in Jacksonville, Florida passed Practical Tests this week and received their FAA instrument ratings. Both Elliot Corderio and Vinhthuy (Moi) Hoang graduated from the Sunrise Aviation FAA Part 141 Instrument Rating course late last month.
Both Hoang and Corderio are students at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) and are pursuing degrees in Professional Pilot Technology. This week they passed their FAA checkrides given by FAA Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs). The DPEs involved were Shawn Knickerbocker and Duane Brown.
Both students are military veterans utilizing their GI Bill benefits. Hoang and Corderio are also currently enrolled in the Sunrise Aviation/FSCJ Commercial Pilot Certification Course and both plan to complete that course by February 2012. Future plans for both include completing a multi-engine rating and adding the flight instructor certificate.
Florida State College at Jacksonville offers low in-state tuition rates for Florida residents. Recent changes to the VA Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill make public colleges like FSCJ particularly popular destinations for veterans wanting to maximize their VA benefits.
Sunrise Aviation became the exclusive pilot training vendor for FSCJ on September 1, 2011. Since that time, nearly 30 students have enrolled in the Sunrise Aviation courses in Jacksonville, Florida. Sunrise Aviation offers a full selection of single-engine, complex, and multi-engine aircraft at the Cecil Airport in Jacksonville which is home to the FSCJ aviation programs. The main base of operation for Sunrise Aviation is in Ormond Beach, Florida where they have more than 40 airplanes available for flight instruction and aircraft rental.
