Jan. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Peter May's The Lewis Man is published in hardback today Jan 5th 2012 by Quercus.

In The Lewis Man - the 2nd book in The Lewis Trilogy - May takes readers back to the Outer Hebrides for another dark, atmospheric thriller and the critics are already hailing it an impressive sequel to the award-winning best-seller The Blackhouse:
"if anything, an even more compelling read than its predecessor" (Undiscovered Scotland)
"The Blackhouse was an extremely good book; The Lewis Man is a superb book" (Bookgeeks)
"I absolutely loved this second book in the series and can safely state that May is currently unveiling a cracking series" (Crimesquad).

It will be hard for The Lewis Man to match the extraordinary success enjoyed last year by The Blackhouse.

After being chosen by Richard and Judy for their autumn book club, The Blackhouse spent twelve weeks in the UK's best-seller charts, reaching a peak at #7.

Two weeks ago, The Blackhouse was voted readers' favourite of the 8 books in Richard and Judy's autumn selection and received a special promotion from WH Smiths.

Peter May said, "I am absolutely delighted that readers have voted it the best read of the Richard and Judy Autumn Book Club. Nothing is more satisfying for a writer than to receive the plaudits of his or her readers. I am honoured and humbled."

The Blackhouse was also a hit with readers in France, where the book was first published.

In October, The Blackhouse won France's Prix Cezam National Literature Award in Strasbourg.  The Cezam prize is one of the world's biggest readers' prizes with more than 3500 jurors from all walks of life across France deliberating each year on a shortlist of 10 European novels before voting for the winner.   The Blackhouse not only won the national prize, but it was also the outright winner in 21 of France's 25 regions. As a result, May spent ten weeks during the Autumn touring France, attending award ceremonies and speaking to readers and jurors across the country.

May is hopeful that readers will enjoy The Lewis Man just as much.

Next week, May will be returning to his native Scotland to launch The Lewis Man.  Readers can meet him in Glasgow, Ayr, Edinburgh and Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, on:
Tuesday, 10th January, Waterstones, Sauchiehall Street, 6 pm, Glasgow
Wednesday, 11th January, Waterstones 11am, Ayr
Wednesday, 11th January, Waterstones, George St, 6 pm, Edinburgh
Thursday, 12th January, The Woodlands Centre, 7.30pm, Stornoway
