Jan. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Marco Costa is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Critical Software. The new CEO will ensure that the work developed by Gonçalo Quadros in the last seven years will continue to be carried out, enhancing a technology based company, that has become a worldwide recognized company for its ability to deliver excellence, creativity and knowledge. Gonçalo Quadros leaves the executive management of Critical Software in a year where, despite an extremely negative economical context, the company recorded a notable progress.

“It is a privilege to be part of this company. A business project that is based and that invests in its collective intelligence, and, therefore, that is especially robust in the demanding and critical way in which it takes on challenges and builds ambition. I take on this new role as a natural step, in the path that Critical Software has been following. I feel particularly honoured for being chosen as the first non-founder CEO, and I want to show that I’m up to the vision of Critical Software’s founding fathers – knowledge, creativity and excellence will continue to be a part of what our clients, partners and employees see in us every day,” states Marco Costa.

Hence, after seven years, Gonçalo Quadros is no longer the Chief Executive Officer for the company. Gonçalo Quadros handed over the role to Marco Costa, in a year in which the company exceed 20 M€ in turnover, representing a 15% increase over 2010, and when it is expected the operational results to grow by 50%. The increase in the company’s activity and, even more important, in its productivity, is a consequence of the steep rise in the exportations and the external presence of the company. Operations in the United Kingdom, Brazil, USA and Mozambique have grown about 45%, when compared to the previous year, and were decisive for the good results obtained. The company’s business expectations for 2012 are in line with the evolution of 2011 – two digit growth in terms of turnover and a very strong increase of the value-generation capacity.

“It is time to change. The change that the world is made of. The change that we want Critical Software to be made of. Renovation is an essential pillar in Critical Software’s culture – it brings us plurality, ambition and determination, but also intelligence, demand and merit. Marco is an extremely capable manager, in whom we place all our trust, and he can depend on all the human capital, knowledge and experience that makes Critical Software what it is today,” says the newly appointed Chairman of Critical Software.

The profile of Marco Costa
Marco Costa first came to Critical Software in 2000, as a trainee, working for the USA subsidiary. There, he worked as a Business Development Manager for local clients, like NASA. Later he became Project Manager and Database Specialist, followed by stepping up to Engineering Manager of Critical Software in 2008. Afterwards, he took the role of Executive Manager of Critical Software’s most profitable business unit – the one that aggregates the Financial, Public Sector, Manufacture, Energy and Telecom industries -, becoming now the first non-founder CEO. Marco Costa has a degree and an MSc in Computer Engineering, and an MBA from the INSEAD. Among his several hobbies are movies, classical music, reading and snowboarding as a sporting activity.
