Henderson said: "Captain Conan is a most likely starter. You won't have heard of him nor seen him but you most probably will on Saturday." After receiving five initial entries on Monday, the race was reopened and attracted a bigger field of nine on Tuesday for the Grade 1 contest that is run over Sandown’s 2m trip. Prospect Wells, who will be hoping to add to Paul Nicholls’ excellent record in the race, was last seen running fourth in the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot just before Christmas after being sent off as the market leader. He’s been raised 3lbs for that run, but was only beaten 1 ½ lengths that day, while the smaller field on Saturday might also be in his favour – Ruby Walsh rides. Colour Squadron beat the classy Montbazon on soft ground at Newbury last month and with this only being his fourth career run then there’s a good chance we’ve not seen the best of him yet either. Of the rest, Magnifique Etoile, who is still unbeaten over hurdles, Arab League, who loves to front run, Aussie Blue, High Storm, Judiciary and Seedless are the others that make up the nine at this stage.
