First Part 141 Graduate at Sunrise Aviation's Jacksonville Satellite Completes Rating

The Fall 2011 semester at Florida State College at Jacksonville has now concluded and that means that Sunrise Aviation’s first semester as FSCJ’s flight training vendor is also coming to a close.  At the end of the semester, several FSCJ students finished their FAA Part 141 approved courses and were awaiting Practical Tests for the awarding of their new certificates or ratings.  

The first student to complete a Sunrise Aviation FAA approved course at Jacksonville and to pass the FAA Practical (flight) Test is Carlos Peralta.  On Monday, December 26, 2011, Peralta passed his flight test for the addition of an Instrument Rating to his existing Private Pilot Certificate (airplane single engine land).  Peralta is one of many US Armed Forces veterans who are using their GI Bill benefits to train as pilots at FSCJ.  At least three more FSCJ students are scheduled for flight tests with FAA Designated Pilot Examiners during the first week of the year.  The FAA Designated Pilot Examiner who did the Practical Test for Peralta was Shawn Knickerbocker.  Knickerbocker (left side) is shown in the photo congratulating Peralta on the receipt of his new rating.

Sunrise Aviation completed its first semester as the flight training vendor for FSCJ with over 20 students enrolled in various courses from Private Pilot to Flight Instructor.  More than 30 students are anticipated for the Spring 2012 flight courses.  The low cost tuition for Florida residents and exceptional value for Post 9/11 GI Bill veterans, combined with the projection of increasing demand for professional pilots, has created more interest in the FSCJ aviation programs.
