Jan. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- In a short span of time Tehulka has become one of the leading film importers and distribution companies of Pakistan. Their strategic alliance with Pakistan’s premiere film distribution and exhibition entity Mandviwalla Entertainment resulted in an aggressive distribution strategy for DON 2. Previously they created history with the release of Bodyguard, which went on to become the highest grossing foreign film in Pakistan.

DON 2 continues its phenomenal run at the Box office. The film has been released with record breaking 38 prints (industry standard being 21 prints), breaking the Opening Weekend Box office record in Pakistan cinema history beating both Bol & Bodyguard.

At the press conference, Mr. Nadeem Mandviwalla presented the box office collection figures of the leading films as follows:

Hosting the event Asim Qureshi elaborated that 3 years ago it took 3 weeks to reach 3 crores, today Don 2 has done that in a matter of 5 days only. This was only possible with more screens available to exhibit the picture, the difference being 13 screens (3 years ago) to 38 (Don 2).

Doc Riffat Siddiqui Director & Business Head Tehulka pointed out that Don 2 has helped open up new circuits in cinema and it is also the first bollywood film to be released in Peshawar post ban. He shared vision of expanding Tehulka into Film production and exhibition in Pakistan along with his Strategic Head and Director Kamran Yar Khan, one of Pakistan’s leading music video directors.

Summing up Mr. Nadeem Mandviwalla, whose company also manages Atrium Cinemas Pakistan’s first Digital 3D Cineplex, laid out the road map for investment. He stated that box office figures and public response today is sufficient to facilitate local film production and pointed out that in order to secure a solid foundation the industry must target 10 new screens every year leading up to 100 new cinemas in 10 years. Mandviwalla suggested Government support through tax holidays for investors who can build a Cineplex in the next 5 years as catalyst that can help achieve the desired result.
