NEW for 2012: Art of China Traditional Drawing..... Guanyin

Dec. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Guanyin is one of Asia's most popular Goddesses, no where more so than in China
As the Patron Saint for women she is worshiped by young brides hoping  for healthy children, fishermen pray to her for a safe return, farmers also worship her for good harvests.
She is also the protector of the weak, the underprivileged, and children

In her spare time she is the protector of travellers, traditionally by sea, but in keeping with modern technology, Guangyin now covers air and bullet train travellers.
Whew!
Busy Lady.

Wherever you go in China you will see likenesses of her, from cheap, tacky plastic to elaborate and pricey jade or ivory.
Today she is more often than not shown as a beautiful, youngish woman, dressed in white, but some of the early work has her in blue, perhaps less attractive [ok ok, beauty and the eyes of the beholder.... I know!]
This maybe because she was originally "genderless" neither make nor female, or perhaps both, which is the source of her extreme power.
She is certainly not the sort of lady you want to mess with.

Be that as it may, we thought she was a perfect choice for our New Year wish for safe and enjoyable travel over this busy season.
So, wherever in the world you may be, what ever you are doing, where ever you are going, Art of China wishes you a safe and happy journey and of course all the usual good things for the New Years... good luck, good health and prosperity.

Chinese New year is a little early in 2012, so we will be releasing another new drawing mid Jan which adds more weight to New Year wishes.
