Lisa, a sixteen-year-old runaway, has just arrived in New York City, intending to move in with her mother. But where is her mother? Not at the address where Lisa's been writing her. Where is she?

Enter private detective Adam De Remer, willing to offer his assistance. Adam is just what she needs, blonde, blue-eyed, gentle, understanding, forgiving of Lisa and her moods and tantrums. Lisa falls just a little bit in love with Adam, but Adam is smart enough to keep her at arm's length.

The De Remer Brothers Private Detective Agency offer their help, thought they're supposed to be working on something else. And Lisa will need plenty of help, because her mother's disappearance is linked to a series of murders going back over a decade, and the danger might not be over yet.
