Follow on Google News | "Makua Charley" Horror Movie to Film in HawaiiA new horror movie entitled Makua Charley, based on the Hawaiian legendary shark-man, prepares to film (with a little help from their friends).
Folks are disappearing from the Shark's Cove youth hostel on the North Shore of O'ahu. When young Karen Palmer visits for a two week vacation, she meets a handsome and charming local boy named Charley. He promises to show her some sights "off the normal tourist path". Karen finds herself irresistibly drawn to her mysterious tour guide. When her two new friends, Mona and Lester, warn her that there is something fishy about Charley, Karen ignores their advice. She falls deeply under the spell of Charley's good looks and suave island charm. Unfortunately, Charley is the embodiment of an ancient Polynesian curse, and he's torn between his basic human nature and his predatory killer instincts. "Makua Charley" is a feeding frenzy of horror set amidst the gently swaying palm trees of idylic Hawaii. In this paradise turned to hell, the scent of fresh spilled blood is carried on a tropical breeze. "Makua Charley" is a feature-length horror film written and directed by Al & Jayne Cloutier. Currently in pre-production, this movie will be filmed on location in Honolulu, Hawaii. Shooting began in spring 2012, with a projected release date of September 2013. As many independent filmmakers these days, Al & Jayne are seeking funding from the crowd source venue of KickStarter. They launched their 40 day campaign on April 16, 2012. Here's what Jayne had to say about KickStarter: How Kickstarter works: People pledge an amount and choose a reward. At the end of Al & Jayne's 40-day Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for their project meets their $7,777 goal, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged and they will receive the funds to finish the film. If they don't meet their goal, then the money is not withdrawn from any accounts and no rewards are provided : (If they exceed their $7,777 goal then the extra funds will be used to make the movie even better! All funds raised are used directly to pay the actors in Jayne and Al's new film.
