Community Rallies For Local Kids at BGCOP's 22nd Annual Auction
The 22nd Annual Donald K. Facciano Kids Auction was a resounding success, raising more than $304,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme's 18 club sites and nearly 9, 000 kids they serve.
Receiving special honors at this year’s event was the Gene Haas Foundation. The Foundation was recognized for years of generous funding totaling nearly $1 million, to help children be great, graduate from high school and achieve their dreams as good and caring adults. Don Facciano presented Peter Zierhut, a representative of the Gene Haas Foundation, the Harriet H. Samuelson Children’s Champion Award along with a portrait of Gene Haas by renowned celebrity artist Zoey Stevens, as a gift from the Club to the Gene Haas Foundation.
More than 300 people attended the event, helping to make the Gala a tremendous success. “In today’s tough economic times, when we’re serving more children than ever before, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude by the generous sponsors and guests who made this night such a success,” said Tim Blaylock, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. “Having such loyal community members, leaders, volunteers and staff come together and truly rally for our kids, shows how much they care for our kids, and reaffirms that the work we are doing is worthy of their support.”
The Gene Haas Foundation was a presenting sponsor of this year’s Donald K. Facciano Kids Auction. Other major sponsors included The Gas Company, Bunnin Automotive Group, VCDSA, Southern California Edison, DMI, Rabobank, City National Bank, First California Bank, County Commerce Bank, and Sunbelt.
