Word Life Production News-December 2011

This month has been a very busy month for Word Life Production. God has blessed us with so many great opportunities for 2012 and I’m overwhelmed with greatness.

Dec. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- This is the season that we celebrate the birth of Christ. If I was to throw a party for someone I love, I would deck the halls with bells of holly. I would show love to my neighbor by inviting them over to celebrate this wonderful day with us. I would give love because it’s worth more than any material thing that money can buy. I would promote peace by being peaceful on the King of Peace’s day of honor.

This Christmas give love to everyone; even those who don’t love themselves. In honor of Christ’s holiday, exalt God by honoring his name through good works eternally. Let your light so shine upon the earth. Allow people to recognize the fruits of the Holy Spirit in you by promoting love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  And if this Christmas, you are struggling economically, God has also given us the gift to withstand longsuffering through those same fruits. So don’t be discouraged because things will get better!

Who’s Hot in the Underground World of Music?

In Light of the Christmas Holiday, we are celebrating one of the all-time greats, the late legendary Luther Vandross. Born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City in the NYCHA Alfred E. Smith public housing development, Vandross began playing the piano at the age of three. He grew up in a musical family that moved to the Bronx when he was thirteen. His sister, Patricia, sang with the vocal group The Crests, who had a...

In this month’s Legendary Corner is non-other than Super Natural.  Reco Price is an American rapper best known for his "on-the-spot" freestyle and battle rap abilities. He has been a regular performer and host of the Rock the Bells Music Festival since its beginning in 2004…

This month’s Celebrity Pick is one of my favorites, Reggie Noble bka Redman.   In 1992 Redman released his debut album, Whut? The Album, which Allmusic noted for blending "reggae and funk influences" with a "terse, though fluid rap style." The album peaked at number forty-nine on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold. He was named "Rap Artist of the Year" by The Source. Redman followed this up with his 1994 album, Dare...

This month we are remembering another freestyle legend, Eydea. Eyedea and Abilities is what you get when you combine the very best of two opposite ends of Hip-Hop's musical spectrum. On one end you have the M.C./Lyricist, Eyedea, who has proven himself time and time again not only as an extraordinary song writer, but also as a master at battling and the art of freestyling…

I’m honored to introduce to you, poet, songstress, and writer, Khadijah “Moon” Ali-Coleman. She is a spectacular educator, writer, and arts communications professional with significant work in theater arts, music, and youth development. She currently balances work as a creativity coach and educators, helping others grow artistically and holistically as communicators into today’s high-tech and often convoluted world.

There’s nothing smoother that Jazz music from Alexander Boynton Jr. This extremely talented bassist hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, now residing in Canada, self-released a fine 12 song collection of Smooth Jazz numbers that incorporates elements of Latin, R&B, Funk and "Slow Jams". Every, and I do mean, every, cut on the album is a winner. “There is no filler here ladies and gentlemen.”

Sampeace Brown is not just a Reggae artist, but a humanitarian as well. He, who was originally born in Nigeria West Africa with a population of about 150 million people, started his artist career at the age of 14. Sampeace Brown grew up in a big family where singing and listening to pop music and traditional folklore was part of the daily rituals and way of life.

Our feature artist of the month is soul-sensation Derick Swinson. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been signed to A Train Records under an unnamed boy band project. He left the group to attend college and study musical theatre but his heart kept calling him back to music…

We are also celebrating Eddie Murphy under Black Comedy Central.  He was born in Brooklyn, and began doing stand-up comedy as a teenager and later joined the cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live. At age 21 he co-starred with Nick Nolte in 48 Hours and went on to further box office success with Trading Places and Beverly Hills Cop. He continues to star in many movies, including comedies, dramas, and family films.

Also check out check out Sanford & Son under Black Television celebrities. Sanford and Son is an American sitcom, based on the BBC's Steptoe and Son that ran on the NBC television network from January 14, 1972, to March 25, 1977.In 2007, Time magazine included the show on their list of the "100 Best TV Shows of All Time".

In our Gospel corner we are honored to introduce to you Israel Houghton. He is known for injecting contemporary gospel and worship with a blazing energy that has made him among the most influential tastemakers in his field. As a singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and worship leader, he has created a canon of songs that have become standards in houses of faith around the globe.
