More French Property For Your Pound

Dec. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- All the current doom and gloom of the eurozone has a sparkling silver lining for British house hunters looking for a property in France right now.  The French Property Exhibition, held within The France Show, has thousands of properties to browse meaning you won’t even need to cross the Channel to begin your search!

The pound has gone from strength to strength in recent months, meaning budgets will stretch much further. Consider it this way, if you had £100,000 to spend on a French property this summer that would have bought you a property worth €110,000 (exchange rate of 1.10 in July 2011). Now, with the exchange rate at 1.19, the same amount in sterling will realise €119,000, representing an extra €9,000 to spend on a bigger and better property - or a seriously impressive new kitchen and bathroom!

France has always had a stable property market in which to invest and property prices are once more on the rise (up 7.9% in 2010-11), so if you’re planning on a French property purchase in 2012, don’t hang around too long. When compared with other vehicles for your savings (bank accounts, stock market etc), French property could be a very safe place for your pounds. In many rural areas, however, it remains a buyer’s market - for now anyway - with vendors willing to negotiate and many properties available at prices not seen for years. Couple this with the improving exchange rate and it’s not hard to see that now is a great time to invest in French property.
