Telecommunications Company Relies on Plustek to Improve Security at Multiple Locations

Reliable, high-quality live and playback video helps keep operations running smoothly

Dec. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Plustek Inc., the leading manufacturer of innovative Linux-based, standalone Network Video Recorders (NVR), today announced that the leading telecommunication company in Japan deployed an array of Plustek Slim240 NVRs with Multimanager CMS software to manage 56
cameras installed in central cities and provided video back-up and monitoring at the  company's headquarter.

The telecommunication company is Japan's premier provider of leading-edge mobile voice, data and multimedia services. With more than 59 million customers in Japan, the company is one of the world's largest mobile communications operators.

Cooperating with AUG and ADI, the telecommunication company installed 56 Axis IP cameras which are dedicated to monitoring entrances and activity at the two factory and office locations. Managements wanted to better monitor and supervise operations and workflow at both locations, explained Ronald Douglas, IT Manager of the leader in telecommunication. Moreover, they wanted to prevent a repeat of a string of negative incidents that had occurred in the worker’s locker room.

Plustek’s Linux-embedded NVR Slim240 can be set up in minutes and requires no PC to run. It connects up to four IP cameras and is ready to record and view via an Internet browser. The NVR Slim240 provides video compression in Motion-JPEG, MPEG-4 and H.264. After the tragic events in Japan in March of this year, there were numerous power outages and the Internet proved highly unstable. During this critical period, Plustek’s solutions proved their superior durability and reliability.

To meet their increased security needs, the common telecommunication carrier chose Plustek technology to enable staff to view surveillance video live at various locations, record and back-up video at each local site, and provide remote monitoring and video back-up at the headquarters.

Prior to upgrading to Plustek technology, the company utilized traditional CCTV, but as Douglas related, “The resolution wasn’t sharp enough to identify anyone’s face.” There were other system limitations, “We could only monitor at each location, and it was not easy to back-up our recorded video.” Now, Plustek’s Multimanager centralized management software enables security staff to view live and playback video simultaneously and to schedule automatic video back-ups to desired, remote locations. All video are stored for approximately 28 days in order to facilitate any needed incident investigation.

Douglas and his team have been quite pleased with their upgrade to Plustek technology. “The system is very stable and reliable, and the quality of live and playback video is excellent.” Douglas also appreciates Multimanager’s auto back-up feature, as well as many other Plustek benefits, “The price is right and Plustek’s system design reduced the workload so it was installed in only two months. In addition, Plustek really stood by us during this installation with their excellent technicians and efficient delivery of needed services.
