Dec. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Berkeley, CA, December 19, 2011 -- This week a real-time strategy game informed by the Occupy movement launched on crowdfunding site, Kickstarter.  "Occupy: A Global Game of Protest" will be released first quarter next year, as long as it attains full funding by Tuesday, January 17th .  In exchange for pledging their support, backers receive rewards ranging from a secret podcast and personalized memorabilia to custom-written songs and laser-cut statuettes.  Higher-end rewards grant backers the ability to consult directly with the team on additional game content.  Backers are only charged if the entire project is funded.

The game's creators, three long-time friends and collaborators, began developing the title two months ago.  During that time, they've crafted a custom engine that delivers a plugin-free, cross-platform gaming experience on Facebook for mobile and the web.  Despite  several game-related degrees, this particular game has proven to be a unique challenge.  "It's always exciting to start a brand-new project, especially since we're also using brand-new tools", stated Max Meier, an app developer with three years of publishing experience. "It's tough to work remotely, especially with the difference in time.   We discuss every aspect of the game, big and small, with one goal in-mind: awesome sauce."

Gamers organize virtual protests, trading resources to increase the size of the crowd.  But as media coverage grows, so do levels of disorder.  Other units, like veterans and members of anonymous, have abilities that help delay or avoid eviction. Each stage of the game takes place in a new city across the globe. Share progress with friends using Facebook's new Timeline.  Back the game today at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/occupygame/occupygame...
