Consumer grade pressure washing units put out too much pressure to safely wash most surfaces of your home. If not used properly, this excessive pressure can cause expensive problems. Without the proper equipment, you will likely need a ladder to reach higher areas which might also pose possible safety issues. Most importantly, what is your time worth? Do you want to send an entire weekend cleaning your house? Misconception #2: High Pressure Is The Only Way To Get It Clean. Not true. Only contractors that use inferior detergents depend on high pressure to get the job done. High pressure will damage your home. Excessive pressure will force water behind siding, damage weather stripping, break windows which can cause interior mold problems. High pressure on decks, fences and other wood surfaces will not only cause the wood to fuzz up but increases the chances of cutting or marring the wood. Misconception #3: The Detergents Being used will Harm Your Plants and Pets. We only use non-caustic, environmentally friendly products that will not harm your pets. Plants are more sensitive and need to be protected. If a detergent is allowed to dry on a plant it might burn the leaves. Covering plants with plastic is an option; however this can cause as much damage to the plants on a hot day. We prefer to wet the plants down with water before, during, and after the cleaning process. Misconception #4: Your Roof has Ugly Black Streaks and Needs to be Replaced. Not true! Those unsightly black stains or streaks are caused by algae called Gloeocapsa magma. This type of algae thrives in humid and warm climates like Savannah and first appear on the Northern facing surfaces of the roof where shade is prevalent and moisture tends to accumulate. The algae feed on the crushed limestone that is used in asphalt shingles. Rain then spreads the algae down the roof, causing black streaks. As the algae breaks down the shingles, the granules that protect the shingle are loosened and begin to fall off. This causes the roof to deteriorate and diminishes the roof's ability to reflect heat rays. If left untreated, the algae will reduce the life of your roof, diminish your home's curb appeal, and increase your home cooling cost.
