Dexter Pointer & Johnny Gogue sign with Brighton Pub. for ‘Adventures of the Fin-tastic Travelers'

Dec. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Brighton publishing today announced co-authors/creators Ivan “Dexter” Pointer and Johnny Q. Gogue, III, had signed for the first installment of their eagerly-awaited children’s adventure series. The Adventures of the Fin-tastic Travelers will be available first in eBook in mid-2012 at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and at leading bookstores nationwide.

From the talented duo of Dexter Pointer and Johnny Gogue comes a fascinating adventure in which a team of bio-engineered “Super-Sharks” are trapped in an alternate world where fish are the dominant species. Now our heroes embark on an epic quest to find their way home. But, where is their real home? Is it in the future with their creator and mentor, Dr. Pho? Or, is it in the distant past with Marlin, the sorcerer and creator of the Cat’s Eye amulet?

Our five heroic Sharks—each with their diverse, unique talents—find they have been teleported to an alternate world after stumbling across a mythical amulet that allows time travel into the past. This is an unfamiliar world with no land and no evidence of human civilization. It’s a world where fish are the dominant species. They’ve formed hierarchies, civilizations, and kingdoms. And with that comes places to explore and mysteries to be solved.

To return home, the Super Sharks must locate the other amulet that allows time travel into the future. Only then will they be able to repair the trans-dimensional rift and open the doorway to the world they once knew.

The Sharks are not alone in their quest. Back in the future, their creator and mentor, Dr. Pho, is hard at work finding a solution in his secret laboratory on Isla Volcanico. But little do they know there is a traitor in their midst, one who will stop at nothing to betray them.

“Like the Harry Potter books and so many other successful series originally designed for younger readers, the truth is that parents will enjoy reading about the Fin-tastic Travelers as much as their kids simply because the story, as ‘fin-tastic’ as it sounds, really works,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC.

Ivan “Dexter” Pointer was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and knows a few things about sharks. He is a graduate of Utah State University and owns his own company which markets shark designs and a wide variety of shark-related media.

Johnny Q. Gogue, III, has always wanted to be able to lie on the beach, spend time with his family, and write—and not necessarily in that order. In addition to being a published author of plays and short stories, his plays have been performed on stage at the Stage II One Act Play Festival and the Asian American Repertory Theatre.
