Dec. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, FL. December 15, 2011. This past Wednesday night, the South Florida community came out in support of “A Toy’s Story 2: A Night for Giving”. By the end of the evening, the community raised more than $25,000 in proceeds for seven local charities. The event was hosted by Marc Silverstone of Equilibrium Events at The Manor in Wilton Manors, FL.

Silverstone first threw this event last December (in 2010), and with the support of friends and colleagues, was quite successful. Playing on that success, he vowed to make this year’s event even bigger and more exciting. And he made good on his promise. By joining forces with The Manor and several sponsors to orchestrate a three hour extravaganza, the evening resulted in more than $25,000 worth of donations and more than 1,000 unwrapped toys for the participating charities. Silverstone From young to old, the event catered people from all walks of life and supported a variety of causes. All of the donations collected during the evening were directly handed to SunServe, Broward House, Kids in Distress, SMA, Pet Project, Kids in Distress Dental Program, Knock Out Cancer, and The Covenant House.

At the door, upwards of 420 guests donated unwrapped toys to Kids in Distress. The community outreach and support thrilled Silverstone. “I am so moved to see the outpour of support from everyone,” he said... “This goes beyond our expectations and I cannot wait to double these numbers again next year.”

Guests entered the “evening of giving” to musical entertainment by Treehause. Aerial performer, Drew Leach, stunned the crowd with his breathtaking and artistic performance. Drag Diva Delfrida led the live auctions, which raised more than $4,000.
Auction items were plentiful, with numerous vacation getaway packages, fine art, and jewelry, personal training sessions, and chocolate gift baskets (just to name a few). Silverstone and the charities were extremely pleased to see that every one of the numerous auction items had been bid on come closing time.

The Room for Giving was packed with holiday décor items donated by local businesses including wreaths, Christmas trees, and ornaments. Participating charities and their representatives were on hand to educate guests and take cash donations. Ranging from cancer prevention and pet supplies to care and gay rights organizations, this year’s Toy’s Story offered a reason for everyone to participate.

All in all, Kids in Distress Dental Program walked away with more than $6,000 in donations, Sun Serve with $4,000, and Broward House really raised the roof, collecting more than $17,000.
