Charleston Fashion Week Selects Emerging Designer Competition Finalists To Compete March 20-24th!

Dec. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Charleston, SC - For 20 aspiring fashion designers the wait is over and the sewing begins! Organizers of Charleston Fashion Week® have released the names of the Emerging Designer Competition: East semifinalists to compete during the 2012 fashion event. Representing 8 states, the talented designers will debut their Fall collections as part of the March 20-24th event which showcases fashion designers, models, and entertainment. Producers of the five-night celebration that has helped launch the careers of numerous talent will assist the semifinalists with model casting, hair and makeup, and production for their Charleston Fashion Week® runway shows.

The 2012 Emerging Designer Competition: East semifinalists are: Adrienne Marie Antonson, Angela Sum, Emily C Pollard, Gil Tisdale & Dominique Verona, Hannah Goff, Hazel Bae, Jessica Patricia Krupa, Joanna Parris Lee, Jordan Lee Brooks, Keely Lauren Cansler, Kelly Elizabeth Ruehlman & Amy Cochran, Leigh Ashley Newsome, Mikasa La'Charles Horton-Walden, Nancy Faw Crowell, Nina Awasum, Ra yeon Jang, Samantha Hyman, Shelley Lucille Smith, Tsvetelina Gerasimova McAuliffe, and Vartika Vikram.

The panel of fashion experts that selected the competing semifinalists included designers Mychael Knight, Lindsey Carter, and K. Cooper Ray, who added, “I look forward to seeing what this talented group of semifinalists produces when provided with the appropriate tools of the trade and an incredibly long runway. It is very exciting to find new talent and watch them progress from the work room to world stage.” CFW judging alums and fashion royalty Fern Mallis and Anne Slowey will return as panelists to select the Grand Prize Winner.
The Emerging Designer Competition: East, presented by The Art Institute of Charleston, has been instrumental in helping young fashion designers break into the competitive industry.
