Call MD Plus Awards Grant to Cleveland Clinic’s Foundation
Call MD Plus is pleased to announce that they have awarded a grant to the Cleveland Clinic Educational Foundation, to support the ongoing efforts of Dr. Roizen’s Preventative and Integrative Medical Conference.
By: Mark Royals
The conference also addressed the use of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM’s) for treatment of metabolic disorders, which have become quite common in the United States. A 2007 National Health Interview Survey showed that 38.3 of adults use some type of CAM.
Dr. Brain Allard, C.E.O. of Call MD Plus stated that “Call MD Plus is proud to assist Dr. Roizen and the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute in this important effort to better familiarize health professionals with the trends, topics and uses of alternative therapies”.
The goal of this Continuing Medical Education Program was to help educate practitioners regarding CAM use as a part of an overall wellness plan. By providing clinically relevant discussions of the most current evidence, this program sought to help physicians transfer acquired knowledge directly to their clinical practice, which will ultimately improve patient outcomes.
The conference was co-chaired by Michael F. Roizen, MD, Chief Wellness Officer for the Cleveland Clinic, and New York Times bestselling co-author of YOU: The Owner’s Manual; Richard S. Lang, MD, MPH, Vice Chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, and Chairman of the Department of Preventative Medicine; and Melinda Ring, MD, FACP, Chief of Northwestern Integrative Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
