Award-Winning Photos at RB Art Gallery: South American Cowboys, Fly Fishing Slide Shows, Live Music

Dec. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Jeff Glaspy, an award-winning local photographer opens two new art exhibits at the Red Bluff Art Gallery Friday, January 6, with a Reception for the artist 5-8 p.m.

Glaspy has recently been on assignment in Patagonia (South America area located in Argentina and Chile) and is exhibiting beautiful photos in a show called “Patagonia Goucho Culture”. In the Main Hall of the gallery he opens a second exhibit entitled “World Class Photo Journey” with a wide range of interesting work from his travels.

The photographer is a former naval flight photographer and studied large format zone system fine art photography in college. His work has been shown in LA, Denver, Boston, Rhode Island and New York City. He has various awards including the 2008 Fujifilm Masterpiece Award and winner of the “People” category in the International Association of Panoramic Photographers in New York (2008).

In the window gallery Glaspy is showing scenes from Central Patagonia including gaucho culture, ranching, rodeos, horse races, rivers, and some landscapes
of the Patagonia steppes.

One of his favorite photos in the exhibition is entitled “Grandma”.

“’Grandma’ has a quality to it you have to feel.......a women who lived a hard life filled with adversity, yet embraces it and lives life to the fullest with flowers, vegetables, family, dancing and loving wisdom,” Says Glaspy.

Fly fishing is another subject of Glaspy’s photography that has earned him a solid reputation as a photographer. His fly fishing photography has been used in various fishing websites, catalogs and by Trout Unlimited.

There will be two slide shows running in the gallery on the Opening night. The first is of a day fly fishing on a high mountain glacial lake in the Andes and the second is a slideshow of an Argentinean fishing expedition.

Margaret, Rebecca and Ben Glaspy will provide music for the evening. Jeff’s daughter Margaret started playing the fiddle at the age of three. She is from Red Bluff but now lives in New York and is a professional musician.

The gallery is at 601 Walnut St. Food, drink and live music are featured at the First Friday Art Event.
