Dec. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA – A new charitable organization, Everybody Solar, helps both the environment and local U.S. communities thrive with the use of solar power.  This young non-profit hits the eco-NPO scene with a fresh take on green people-focused charity.

“Our goal is to protect the environment and strengthen U.S. communities through solar energy projects.  By providing solar power to local charities, we will help struggling organizations reduce electricity costs and direct their limited funds back into the communities they serve,” said Youness Scally, Executive Director of Everybody Solar.  “There are tons of great charities that improve their communities here in the U.S., and it makes sense to save them money and make their communities greener at the same time.”

Everybody Solar is not your traditional non-profit backed by government grants or high-profile donors.  The organization is founded by a group of sharp and tech-savvy young professionals based out of San Francisco, San Diego and Boston.  They are completely independent - a true start-up that currently has a 100% volunteer staff.

Everybody Solar is in the process of launching multiple solar installations throughout California.  For their flagship solar projects they have chosen stand-out community organizations that provide food, shelter, counseling, health care, education, artistic support, employment training, and other essential services to underserved and vulnerable populations.  They are leveraging the power of crowd-funding to help these organizations not only save thousands of dollars a year, but also become more sustainable in the process.

Everybody Solar is brand new, and they are currently in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.  They are hoping to raise $50,000 by April, 2012 to fund their first two solar energy projects and facilitate their transition to an official 501(c)(3).
