Dec. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- SunnyCal Solar, a division of Dollens Electric, is a solar PV design and installation company with offices in San Jose and Valley Springs, California and has formally partnered with Leaf Exchange LLC, a Renewable Energy Credit (REC) brokerage and exchange service for California solar system owners.  Through this partnership, SunnyCal Solar will refer their customers to the Leaf Exchange service offering, which provides an end-to-end solution for solar system owners to get educated, registered, and paid for their RECs.

Leaf Exchange has formally partnered with over 20 solar installers throughout the state, and has registered several hundred systems into the Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (WREGIS) tracking system.  Stuart Wood, Residential Account Manager for Leaf Exchange states that, “Starting in early 2012 we are confident that California RECs will have monetary value in a Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) market.  We believe RECs will become an important incentive program for solar system owners, especially in light of the dwindling California Solar Initiative (CSI) program rebates.”  Stuart went on to say that “We are excited to partner with SunnyCal Solar, who has a strong presence in the PG&E territory, and believe that this will bring mutual benefit to SunnyCal Solar and their customers.”  Steve Dollens, CEO of SunnyCal Solar said that “We think the Leaf Exchange service offering will enable SunnyCal Solar customers to connect seamlessly with an active marketplace exchange and realize additional value from their solar systems.”

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is expected to formally rule that RECs produced by Distributed Generation facilities (i.e. rooftop solar) are eligible to sell into the California RPS market in January of 2012.  The CEC is currently designing an application process to certify generators as RPS eligible.
