Local and National Jazz Artists Play for Detroit Homeless
Tuesday, December 13, 2011, PV (Paradise Valley) Lounge @ Detroit Seafood Market, located at 1435 Randolph St. in Detroit, Michigan will be on fire. Author Versandra Kennebrew is donating proceeds from her annual Christmas Party to DO Foundation.
It was eight years ago that Kennebrew went to live at a COTS facility for homeless women and children because she had lost everything she owned except a few boxes of essentials and a laptop. She knows firsthand the importance of supporting non-profit organizations like DO Foundation and COTS who exist because businesses and organizations in their community support their humanitarian efforts.
You may have seen on the news last week that the DO Foundation’s NW Detroit office which serves many Detroit area homeless was burglarized. It is the dead of winter and Detroit area homeless teens and families especially need DO Foundation to continue its mission “humans helping humans.” DO Foundation provides hygiene essentials, food, clothing, books, housing referrals and arbitration to people in transition. Kennebrew hopes to raise enough to provide essentials needed to secure the building so Brian O’Neal and his team of volunteers and staff can do what they do.
Live Jazz @ PV Lounge is Kennebrew’s 2011 Christmas Party and she and her special guests; Brian O’Neal, Lin Rountree, Amp Fiddler and Ezra Styles invite metro Detroit musicians, and all their Facebook and Twitter friends to help celebrate this season by joining them Tuesday from 6p – 9p. If live funky, soulful jazz is not your thing, visit www.dofoundation.net to learn more about how DO Foundation is supporting Detroiters in transition. Don’t forget to give while you are there. If you really care, do something.
To purchase advanced tickets to Live Jazz @ PV Lounge, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 or make a charitable donation to help Detroit area homeless, visit www.dofoundation.net.
