Dec. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- The prices of medical services in Poland are still much lower compared with Germany, Great Britain or US. That is why medical tourism will again grow after the crisis of 2010, when revenues fell by 30 percent. Before the crisis, the revenue from treating foreign patients regularly increased to a level of around 900 mln PLN a year.

According to different estimations the number of people visiting Poland for medical treatment was 400.000.

Most foreigners visit in Poland dentists and plastic surgeons. There are also regular visits to spas. Currently the numbers of medical areas increase adding: orthopedics, eye surgery, rehabilitation, cardiac surgery and beauty treatments. Among the foreign patients who come to our country is dominated by the British, but also the Swedes, Danes and Germans. The second large groups of patients are compatriots residing abroad, who during your stay in Poland use of medical services. There is a chance that Americans will join them. Among women dominate in plastic surgery procedures; the men often come to dental therapy, and orthopedic.

Despite lack of pan-european marketing patients are familiar with Poland. Mostly they have family or relatives based in Poland. After Poland joined European Union in 2005 approximately 2 mln Poles have left Poland to work in another part of Europe, mainly UK. Resulting in promotion of medical tourism market. A trip to family may be joined with dental visit, spa session or some plastic intervention. This natural process has helped medical providers to attract potential patients. A friend related marketing works better. Intimacy of doctor-patient relationship as well as privacy protection combined with satisfaction of well done medical treatment causes the spread of Poland based medical cure. One has to check the accessibility of the medical providers as well as quality of care system. Well equipped hospitals and medical centers attract foreigners mainly with the price. Some of them have developed a well known opinion among satisfied and potential patients.

Accesibility is the key: UK, Scandinavian, German cities are directly joined with main Polish cities via cheap flights. Direct flight of maximum to 2 hrs leads to Polish city from main EU locations.

Medical treatment of foreigners is bringing the state budget substantial revenue. Only in H1 2010 foreign patients left over PLN 0.5 billion in Poland. Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in H2 2011 may also improve the overall image of Poland. The Presidency logo created by Jerzy Janiszewski, designer of the now world-famous “Solidarity” logo (which became the historic symbol of Poland’s transition to freedom and democracy in the region), also reflect the growth of medical tourism. The Ministry of Economy has already put medical tourism on a list of 27 sectors that may receive substantial EU subsidies for promotion.  Slowdown in economy that has affected the industry of medical tourism begins to let go. According to various forecasts in 2011, the number of patients from abroad will increase by 10-15 percent.

Main market leaders forsee 20% growth of patients in 2011/2010 year to year comparison, hospitals expected steady market growth of 10%. This may be why we still lack of centers to expand the business, by establishing cooperation with professional actors in medical tourism worldwide. Now healthcare providers and facilitators work upon implementation of proven quality control programmes. To really promote the Polish brand of medical tourism, what is needed is to create a network of proven, presenting a very high level of clinics and other healthcare providers says independent observers at medical-tourism-poland.com.
