The author, Beverly Mahone, is a veteran journalist and baby boomer who has spent more than 30 years in radio and television broadcasting.  She says her book was written to help fellow boomers who are transitioning from corporate America into their own businesses or entrepreneurship.  In the book, she offers 8 Killer Tips to help creating a positive media image at midlife.

“One of the things I talk about in the book is the fact that boomers have to learn how to transfer their work history from corporate America by taking the best of their resume and turning it into their expertise.  You have to market yourself in such a way that draws media attention to you and provides visibility.”

Mahone says age and experience can be used as an advantage when doing interviews. “Age is only a factor if you make it one by being a know-it-all, difficult to communicate with, and trying to tell the journalist how to do his or her job. You certainly don’t want to be known by media types as a crotchety old fuddy-duddy."

The book also covers how to write press releases that get noticed and the best places to connect with journalists on and offline.  Pre-orders are being taken now,  The official release is in January 2012.

Mahone, who has a degree in journalism from Ohio University, has worked in both radio and television and currently hosts a radio and TV show called The Boomer Beat in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.
