Anvil Media Promotes Hallie Janssen to CEO Role
SEM agency, Anvil Media, restructures to address future growth plans.
“For the past 5 years, I’ve been grooming Hallie to take a significant leadership role in the company,” stated Kent Lewis, President of Anvil Media, Inc. “Her prowess at building and growing the account team the past 9 years, as well as more recent success heading up our sales efforts, makes this an exciting and natural decision.”
Janssen started her digital marketing career in 1998 at a high tech company, to which Lewis was a digital marketing vendor. In 1999, Janssen moved to an agency role, working with Lewis. In 2002, she became a contractor for Anvil Media, before being hired full-time in 2004. Since then, she has helped grow the account team from 2 to 13, as well as grow the client-base from a dozen local companies to nearly 60 global clients.
“I’m excited to take on a new role at Anvil,” stated Hallie Janssen, Vice President of Anvil Media, Inc. “I’ve learned a great deal working with Kent over the last 13 years and I’m eager to apply my experience and energy to drive key business initiatives in 2012 and beyond.”
Anvil projects a 20% increase in revenue in 2011, despite a lower average headcount. The growth was a result of successfully securing and growing larger, more sophisticated global clients, including: Advantis Credit Union, Cash4Books, FEI, Goddard Schools, International Rescue Committee, Janrain, MarineMax, Right Management, SEMA, TEKsystems and Urban Airship.
“I’ve spent 11 years building Anvil, but realized the company leadership needed a refresh in order to achieve our growth goals for 2012 and beyond,” stated Lewis. “I also look forward to taking a step back so I can spend more time with my family, mentoring startups and pursuing philanthropic efforts.”
Additional sources of growth at Anvil include a highly seasoned and cohesive team, including two recent hires, Nathan Gancher and Jeff Bedford as Account Coordinators. To ensure clients are relevant in the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, Anvil introduced new service offerings in 2011, including Mobile Marketing, Conversion Optimization and Competitive Intelligence Audits & Plans.
Furthering progress towards Anvil’s vision of being the most respected SEM agency in the world, 100 percent of the account team earned both Google AdWords and Analytics Certifications, a feat estimated to have been achieved by less than a dozen reputable SEM agencies worldwide. Anvil also successfully launched a free monthly webinar series, for which future topics will include marketing automation, video optimization and competitive intelligence.
Anvil continues to receive local and industry recognition for its client work and financial performance. The Portland Business Journal ranked Anvil Media one of Oregon’s Healthiest Employers in 2011 and Top Marketing Firms as well as one of the 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies for the fourth consecutive year. Anvil also ranked on the Inc. 500|5000 Fastest Growing Companies in 2011. To increase philanthropic efforts, Anvil also added quarterly charitable cash donations in 2011, benefitting Oregon Humane Society, Mercy Corps and The Pixie Project.
