Dec. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- DALLAS – KaiNexus, a web-based software company that makes improvement easier for healthcare organizations, announced today that Centra Health, based in Lynchburg, Virginia, has signed a commercial license to use the KaiNexus platform to assist in the health system’s quality improvement efforts.

Chris Thomson, MD, Medical Director of the Centra Emergency Services Group, commented, "Centra Emergency Services Group is looking forward to adding KaiNexus to aid in its implementation of Lean principles. Ideally, it will become the foundation of this improvement work.”

KaiNexus software is based upon the improvement principles of “kaizen,” which focuses on identifying and implementing a large number of small, low-cost, low-risk ideas that come primarily from front-line staff. Kaizen is a core part of the “lean” management philosophy that has been embraced by leading healthcare systems around the world.

Gregory Jacobson, MD, co-founder and CEO of KaiNexus said, “We couldn’t be happier that Centra Health is starting to use KaiNexus.  We have completed our company’s beta phase and are now offering the commercial version of our electronic quality improvement management system.  Its an exciting time for health care quality improvement and for KaiNexus.”

About KaiNexus

Founded in 2009, KaiNexus “makes improvement easier” for healthcare by facilitating communication throughout the entire organization with its web-based technology.  KaiNexus helps initiate, manage, and spread ideas that come from clinicians and front-line staff, streamlining the management process required for continuous improvement to thrive.  It is built for the realities of today’s complex healthcare organizations, helping better facilitate staff and physician-driven continuous improvement efforts.

The KaiNexus platform has been in beta use by multiple departments throughout the Vanderbilt University Medical Center since early 2011, after they participated in the development of early versions of the software, starting in 2005.   KaiNexus is in the process of rolling out to several other large organizations, including UNC Health Care System, Presbyterian Healthcare Services (New Mexico), and Centra Health.
