Simi YMCA Selling Christmas Trees Till December 23

Dec. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- SIMI VALLEY, CALIF.--The Simi Valley Family YMCA is selling Christmas trees now until December 23. Tree sale proceeds will help families in need participate in YMCA programs. The tree lot is run by volunteers from the Simi Valley Y's Men's Club, a service organization whose primary mission is to support the YMCA.

   "We typically sell between 400 and 500 trees each year," says Bob Spielman, with the Y's Men's Club. "The Y has been selling Christmas trees for over 30 years. Ours was the only tree lot in Simi in the 1970s."

   The Y lot is selling Douglas fir and Noble trees ranging from 5' to 8'. In addition to selling trees, each year, the Simi Y identifies 15 to 20 local needy families and donates and delivers Christmas trees to each of them.

   Hours are 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The tree lot is located at the Y (3200 Cochran St., corner of Galena Ave. and Cochran St., in Simi Valley). For more information, call 805-583-5338.
