Dec. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Austin, Texas (December 5, 2011) – SPI Study Abroad is pleased to announce that we will be extending the early application deadline to December 15th, 2011 for all high school study abroad programs in Spain, France, Italy, Costa Rica, and China.  Receive more information on these high school study abroad programs at our website.

Several students from different schools across the country have already applied during the early application period for our summer 2012 programs, guaranteeing that they’ll receive the lowest rates possible.  SPI wants to give more high school students the opportunity to lock in these lower rates by extending the deadline to Thursday December 15th, 2011. The cost of our programs differ depending on country and length of stay, but what is guaranteed is that the lowest possible cost will be offered from now until December 15th, 2011. After the 15th, SPI can’t guarantee that the rates won’t fluctuate due to the economic situation in Europe and the uncertainty of the Euro. SPI is finding that the earlier students apply, the easier it is for SPI to save them money by finding lower rates on flights, accommodations, excursions and more. SPI wants to make sure each student gets the most bang for their buck.

SPI can guarantee that our programs will provide all of our high school students an authentic linguistic immersion experience that helps them gain a competitive advantage for college admissions and future job opportunities. There are a few key elements to our programs that ensure this. First, students, teachers, and directors use the language of study throughout the program. Second, students study at an accredited foreign university or academically challenging language institute where they receive an official transcript which can be petitioned to receive college credit. Third, students live with a caring homestay family in a small, manageable city where they are required to use their developing language skills as they safely explore and live in the local community. Fourth, students participate in quality excursions to sites of cultural and historic importance with teacher-guides that understand their level of comprehension, their U.S. based curriculum and their interests. Lastly, the on-site program directors are mature, experienced teachers who serve as a mentor, caregiver, motivator, model immersion student, and conduct the entire program in the language of study.
