Dec. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- It’s been over 2 years since Tiger Woods last won a golf tournament. But as of Sunday the longest winless streak of his storied career is officially over. It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t always pretty. But it was definitely dramatic. Woods needed two pressure birdie putts on the last 2 holes to take the win by one stroke, and finish at -10 for the tourney.

Tiger Woods finally looked like the player he was prior to his off the course much documented mishaps and the various injuries and surgeries that had also sidelined his career. By birding his last two holes Sunday in typical (pre Escalade Thanksgivings night crash) Tiger fashion, he won the Chevron World Challenge by one shot over former Masters Champion Zach Johnson.

Also in Typical Tiger Woods fashion after the final putt dropped. He did the famous Tiger fist pump. You could see the joy and relief on his face.  When asked if the emotion was joyous, satisfying or simply relief, Woods smiled and said, "It just feels awesome whatever it is." It had been 749 days, 26 tournaments, 1 divorce and countless late night jokes since he last won on Nov. 15, 2009 at the Australian Master.

It’s amazing what a win will do for a guy’s ranking.  The win moved him from No. 52 to No. 21 in the world ranking.  But we won’t get to see him play again until the tournament in Abu Dhabi at the end of January.

So will Tiger Woods regain his #1 world ranking?  http://weeklypoll.net/tigerwoods

Winning the Chevron isn't exactly the same as winning a major championship trophy. But in this case a win is a win…and a big one at that. It’s big for Tigers psyche, his confidence, and it will probably lessen the negative media scrutiny. Considering the intense scrutiny his game endures from shot to shot, this was more than a nice win at his charity tournament.

Woods was asked how it compares to his other victories. "It feels great. … I know it's been a while, but also for some reason, it feels like it hasn't. When I was coming down the stretch there, I felt so comfortable. When I'm putting myself in those positions, it is comfortable.'' You could feel the 1st win in over two years was getting closer. There was a tie for fourth at the Masters this year. Then a 3rd place finish at the Australian Open three weeks ago. So regardless of the stature of the tournament the win is another example that Woods' game is progressing…and that Tiger is back.
