Dec. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- The Tile design you choose must be in line with your personal preferences and the design theme you want to work with. There are lots of tile designs you can go with but it isn’t just the tile design that will set the tone of the room, it is everything in the room, from the furniture, paint on the walls, pictures e.t.c. If you have existing decor sand furniture that is very neutral, this can be dressed up and made into whatever tile design you want.
In general home owners can opt for a contemporary tile design, traditional tile design or modern tile design; home owners can also opt for contemporary modern which has all the up to date and current tile trends along with a minimalistic twist which keeps the area clean, smooth which will result in dramatic tile designs.

The traditional tile design involves using neutral crèmes and whites along with rustic golds and browns in complete traditional tile design. There are many tile materials that can be used to achieve this idea. Ceramic wall tiles along with many of the natural stone tile varieties are all good contenders for the traditional tile design. Many of the natural stone tiles that will really bring the natural into the home are granite tiles, slate floor tiles and quarry tiles. The traditional country cottage kitchen can have beautiful rustic quarry floor tiles which produces real tradition surroundings. Many natural stone wall tiles can also be used in light neutral tones to compliment the quarry tiles such as granite tiles which have soft subtle tones or travertine wall tiles that will compliment beautifully.

Contemporary tile designs involve using the current tile trends mixed together with neutral background tile colours. The tile trend at the moment is very much pattern and coloured tiles and there are many in which to choose from. Wall tiles and floor tiles are not just available in solid colours and many are patterned either in picture form or just colour patterns. Glass tiles are a great way to inject colour tiles into the kitchen and there are plenty of places and ways in which to use them. Glass wall tiles can be confined to specific areas such as the backsplash and then carried through into border tiles; they can also be used behind sinks and as a compliment to other wall tiles. The contemporary tile design can be combined together with a modern theme by using clean lines and a very structured tile pattern. Always ensure that you keep colour to a minimum but use enough coloured wall tiles to inject the contemporary theme.

Home owners can make up their own tile design by selecting certain tile designs and colours from different ranges or they can work with a set range and mix and match the various tile choices until they get the desired effect. It always helps to sketch out the design you want and then have a look at the various tile choices available.

Always ensure that you compliment any wall tiles with floor tile choices, if elaborate and detailed designs are used as wall tiles, always work with a neutral floor tile design, this helps to keep all design in the kitchen working together to produce a fantastic finished product.
