Follow on Google News | David Bromstad Takes Over Hotel for Inaugural Art ShowArtist, designer, and television star David Bromstad will reveal his first-ever public art exhibit at Art Basel Miami.
By: MCity Marketeers, Inc. The hotel's public spaces will be decked out with furniture and artwork all made by Bromstad in his Miami studio. "It's very similar to a home makeover," says Bromstad, "except that you're dealing with different details." The hotel itself will be undergoing more than remodeling, as the name will officially be changed to "The Bromstad" for the duration of the event. "The biggest surprises will be the furniture pieces," says Bromstad. "They're over the top. They're definitely not useable pieces, but that's the whole point of Art Basel." Bromstad established his own studio and with his passion for art and design, he earned his own television show, catapulting him to national acclaim and exposure. "I'm known as an interior designer on television that happens to do artwork, but in fact I am first an artist," said Bromstad, who received a Fine Art degree from Ringling College in Sarasota, Fl. Thursday night the hotel will play host to a VIP and media event for "Body, Money, Death." The show expresses sentiment on the three issues which Bromstad believes people are most obsessed with: our physical bodies, finances and mortality. Bromstad admits that the piece also demonstrates his personal struggles with these topics. Art Basel Miami is one of the country's biggest art shows. Now in its 10th edition, Art Basel Miami caters to the everyday art enthusiast as well as big time art collectors by giving the public the opportunity to see and bid on artwork from highly regarded creators. Miami will be flooded with both artists and onlookers for the weekend as art exhibits will be open all over town. "Body, Money, Death" is being sponsored by HGTV and HGTV Magazine, 1888 Mills, Penny Lane Publishing, Planet Lighting, Tiffany’s, Murals Your Way, Thirstystone and 42 Below. The proceeds of the art show will be donated to the Brakehouse Art Complex, a nonprofit company aimed at providing artists with a space to create. David Bromstad is on the web at www.bromstad.com.
