First Book-Brooklyn Celebrates Holidays with Tiger Beat & “The Best of Brooklyn” Charity Auction
First Book–Brooklyn will hold its first annual holiday party to support literacy in our community on Monday, December 5, 2011, from 7:00–9:30pm at the Galapagos Art Space located at 16 Main Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11201 in the DUMBO neighborhood.

First Book–Brooklyn salutes the Brooklyn business community in its efforts to help raise funds to provide brand new books for children in need in our borough. Reading is core to a child’s ability to succeed in school
A rock band made up of YA (Young Adult) authors, Tiger Beat weaves Libba Bray's politically charged lyrics with Dan Ehrenhaft's arena-ready power chords, Natalie Standiford's face-melting bass riffs and Barnabas Miller's searing drumming that churns out a genre-defining sound chock full of fist-pumping rock tinged with after-notes of dysfunction and identity confusion. The band rose to the pinnacle of the rock scene in 2008 and will play two sets to contribute to the evening event.
"We’re so grateful to Tiger Beat and the businesses that have generously supported our efforts to raise awareness for children's literacy in Brooklyn. Thank you!" say Michele R. Wells and Jennifer S. Wilkov, co-founders of the First Book-Brooklyn chapter organization.
