Oregon Sports Awards Call For Nominations

Nov. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Sports Awards, the annual awards honoring Oregon professional and amateur athletes, teams, coaches and administrators for achievement in sport, is calling for nominations by December 5, 2011.

A statewide voting panel consisting of television, radio and print media personalities plus other respected sports professionals will narrow nominees to 80-total finalists in 19 award categories. Hosted by Nike and produced by SportsOne, two Beaverton area companies rooted deeply in Oregon sports, the 60th Oregon Sports Awards will be held and taped live in the state-of-the-art Stanford Theatre at the Nike World Headquarters February 12, 2012.

The Oregon Sports Awards is accepting nominations for the following awards:

Ad Rutschman Small-College Athletes of the Year
This award goes to the outstanding male and female student-athletes representing the state’s 14 NCAA Division II
, III and NAIA-affiliated colleges and universities, and 10 community colleges, in the 2011 calendar year.

Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year
This award goes to the outstanding coach, administrator or organization from an Oregon-based team at any 
level of competition in the 2011 calendar year.

Johnny Carpenter Prep Athlete of the Year
This award goes to the outstanding male and female athletes in both Oregon 6A/5A and 4A/3A/2A/1A high schools 
in the 2011 calendar year.

Harry Glickman Professional Athlete of the Year
This award goes to the outstanding male and female professional athlete with an Oregon background or competing for an Oregon team in
 the 2011 calendar year.

Bill Hayward Amateur Athlete of the Year
This award goes to the outstanding male and female amateur athletes with an Oregon background (high school, college
 or by residency) whose accomplishments brought credit to the state in the 2011 calendar year.
