Nov. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- If you go into Foot Solutions of Estero, you may notice the Christmas tree proudly displayed in the front of the store.  However, unlike many retailers, this holiday décor is not an effort to commercialize the holiday or promote early shopping.  The purpose of this tree is actually to encourage the spirit of charitable giving to those in our community whose holidays may, otherwise, be looking a little bleak.

Foot Solutions of Estero is one of the several locations around Southwest Florida participating in the “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign, organized by the Home Instead Senior Care network.  In the past seven years, this campaign has delivered 1.5 million gifts to needy seniors throughout North America. It has recently gotten underway in Southwest Florida, and will be running through December 15th.  More information about this and other Foot Solutions events can be found at

During this time, when seniors face the threat of Social Security payment delays, the program has relaunched in an effort to help those seniors who are in need.  Since the program was implemented, “Be a Santa to a Senior” has attracted close to 65,000 volunteers throughout the country and has helped provide gifts to more than 750,000 deserving seniors.

Those who wish to donate a gift can go to Foot Solutions of Estero, or any of the other participating businesses.  Shoppers can pick an ornament off of the tree, buy the items on the list, and return them unwrapped to the store, with the ornament attached. Home Instead Senior Care volunteers, staff, senior-care business associates, nonprofit workers, and others then collect, wrap and distribute the gifts to area seniors in need.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in such a worthwhile cause,” said Chris Cole, Owner, Foot Solutions Estero-Fort Myers.  “I think people often associate our area of Southwest Florida with the picture of affluent retirees.  However, many don’t realize that we also have a significant population of seniors who are unable to retire or are forced to go back to work in order to make ends meet.  There are also many seniors who have physically limitations which prevent them from working, but are still struggling financially.  We hope that people will stop into our Estero store and help us support this cause.”

Foot Solutions of Estero-Ft. Myers is located next to Publix in the Corkscrew Village plaza on the corner of US 41 & Corkscrew Road.   For more information, call (239) 495-8911 or visit
