DPR Leeds roofing completes major roof valley repair job

Nov. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Leeds roofing firm DPR has completed a major project to repair a faulty roof valley on a house in the LS6 area of Leeds.

Caused by defective mortar, the problem had resulted in a major leak and required DPR’s skilled roofers to strip down the valley and remove flawed pointing.

New valley cuts were then fitted to new mortar bedding to avoid any potential breakage.

The valley was then re-pointed using a water resistant mortar before a new lead apron saddle was added to the short lead flashing at the bottom of the valley

As with all DPR jobs, the repair work was fully tested for water penetration before the roofers left the site.

DPR Leeds Roofing managing director Darren Rickett said: “A roof valley is commonly found on any L shaped roof. It is the junction between two adjoining sloping roof surfaces and rain water runs down it. In order to avoid water getting into a house, it is essential that all roof valleys are kept in a good state of repair and are maintained regularly.”
