Affordable Health Clinics now open in Tigard, Oregon

Nov. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Dr Rob Tilley and his wife, Cecilia have opened a clinic in the suburban Portland area to serve the needs of the uninsured and underinsured. This new business paradigm does away with insurance billing and the savings are passed on to the patient. Patient costs can be up to 2/3 lower than traditional medical offices. A twenty minute visit is priced at $67. This is a flat rate fee for a physician visit. Radiology and laboratory services are offered at significant discounts. Full general medical services are offered including annual women's physicals and cancer screening. Children are welcome and immunization services are offered. School sports physicals and DOT physicals are done for only $20 to help low income families.

Dr Tilley is a graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and has an MBA from Portland State University. After 17 years of experience in the emergency department he then started EMDC, which grew to become Oregon's largest provider of care to the corrections industry. Dr Tilley then sold his company to Conmed Healthcare Management of Hanover, MD. From 2008-2010 he was the Northwest Regional VP and Regional Chief Medical Officer for Conmed, providing oversight of regional operations responsible for over 100,000 annual health care encounters.

The new venture arose out a desire to address the current medical reimbursement paradigm in a new way. Industry statistics indicate that pre physician costs for management of reimbursement from insurers exceeds $82,000 annually per physician in practice. The new venture relieves the operation of this significant burden and allows not only competitive but markedly lower pricing, while still providing viable margins. Additionally, negotiated rates on laboratory and radiology studies allow even greater price reductions. The hope is that this venture will provide care to those would otherwise have to forego medical services. To further address the needs of lower income patients medicaid payments will also be accepted.
