This is a magnificent late 19th Century 18 Karat Gold, Rose Cut Diamond and Basse Taille Enamel Cross Pendant, made circa 1880, attributed to Boucheron, Paris.

This cross is exquisitely hand crafted and is set with small rose cut diamonds further embellishing the beautiful basse taille polychrome enamel decoration. Basse taille is an enameling technique that was perfected in France in the Renaissance Period.

The technique involves hand engraving the piece and then applying translucent enamel in the engraved channels to give the finished piece more life and artistic quality to the finished piece. This cross is a true work of art and is similar to pieces made by Boucheron, Paris in the late 19th century.
