By: Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce Lewis A. Dibble founded the Naugatuck Chamber in 1921 and since 1976 the Chamber has honored his leadership by recognizing a key leader in the local community. Past award recipients include Terry Barber (2005), Rebecca Zandvliet (2004), John Ford (1995), Dr. Solomon Aordkian (1985), Robert Sutherland (1997), Frederick D. Zonino (1992), John Roman (2009), Rocco Corso (2006) and Thomas Sarracco (2010). Yelding, Inc. is a private printing company established in 1953. Their award-winning integrated graphic management services include prepress; typesetting/ As current president of Yelding, Inc., Laurie Yelding continues her family’s 50 year tradition of producing high-quality printing. Founded by Laurie’s mother, Genevieve, Laurie’s father, Lorry, soon joined the company as the demand for copies grew. In the late 1970s, the company consolidated its print, warehouse and fulfillment operations in Naugatuck, where Laurie and her brother, Christopher Yelding, later took command. Laurie Yelding has served as a long-time member of the Print Industry of Connecticut, including six years on its Board of Directors. She also served as a member of the Association of Graphic Communicators’ While in high school, Laurie Yelding began volunteering in the region by taking Southbury Training School residents on outings. In early 2011, the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls honored her with the Mary Connolly Community Caring Award. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding support to United Way and set a standard for service in the community. Previously, the United Way chapter recognized Yelding, Inc. for outstanding community service for several years prior to Laurie’s personal award. Currently, Laurie is vice president of the United Way’s Executive Committee and serves on a number of additional committees, including the Golf Tournament, Special Events and Festival of Trees Committees. Laurie Yelding also serves on the Naugatuck YMCA’s Board of Directors and Naugatuck Rotary Club’s Board of Directors. She has been honored with several Rotary awards, including Rotarian of the Year in 2010. She lives with her husband, David Brinckerhoff, and two children, Sean and Victoria, in Roxbury.
