UAE, Qatar Organisations Lead the Way in Leadership Assessment for Business Sustainability HR Summit & Expo to discuss leadership survey results

Nov. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Dubai – Leadership is present by nature or can be nurtured; leadership is not a job but a way of doing things. These issues, along with assessing the value of ‘human capital’, are some of the key highlights of a survey conducted by Profiles International Middle East. The complete results of the survey will be released at the forthcoming HR Summit & Expo 2011.

The survey highlights the need for a better understanding of the role of strategic leadership. Oussama Mansour, Chief Executive Officer at Profiles International Middle East explains: “There is a growing trend in the region among organisations to profile individuals for strategic leadership in order to sustain business and ensure growth. The Dubai and Abu Dhabi governments followed by many organisations in the region are adopting proactive methods for both new and existing employees.”

The survey was conducted among 40,000 managers worldwide over a period of two years. For the Middle East region in the survey, assessment of leadership is not just restricted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Qatar is also leading the way. Key in-dustries such as the financial sector, comprising banking and insurance, followed by the retail sector (especially the fashion and cosmetic industries) have a very pro-active approach to this trend.

Held from 20 to 24 November 2011 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, the HR Summit and Expo will invite delegates to delve into the world of international best-practice and to learn how to identify key trends in the region, and will provide invaluable insight into the industry along with the latest news, trends and strategies.

Adrian Gilpin, Chair of the Institute of Human Development, and Dr Javier Bajer, Founding CEO, who works closely with the boards of global organisations such as Shell, HSBC and Hewlett-Packard, are the top HR gurus set to open the main summit days on 21 and 22 November. “Making the shift from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’ is what I will be focusing on at the HR Summit and Expo. If we can get people to really grasp the opportunities these times are presenting us with, then I think we can make a real difference. I will show how people can take common sense and make it common practice,” said Gilpin.

“I think people are looking for greater confidence, greater influence, greater impact … and to do that they’ve got to have a bit of courage. If I can help them deliver just a little bit of courage to take them a step beyond their comfort zones, we’ll have done a good job,” said Gilpin.
