Nicholson's Christmas: Train and Trees-Saturday, November 26th, 6-8PM including: Santa, his Elf, gifts, Hot Chocolate & Cookies, candy canes, a model train display along with the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

Nov. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- “Trains and Trees” will be the theme welcoming visitors to Main Street in Nicholson, PA this Saturday, November 26th, 2011.  Those awaiting the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be greeted by wonderfully decorated Christmas trees as well as special treats throughout the three blocks of this Endless Mountains community.
While the brightly, lit holiday train makes its annual trek to the area helping to raise awareness and collect food for those in need, the Nicholson Business and Professional Association will treat guests to coffee, cookies and hot chocolate as they await the arrival. The train is expected to stop on the Tunkhannock Viaduct (Nicholson Bridge) between 7 and 7:15 in the evening.   Santa and one of his jolly old elves will be in town at 6PM to greet families and hand out special gifts to children.  You will be able to find Mr. Claus at Melben’s Merkantile, just a block down from the Nicholson Fire Company on Main Street (6 until 8PM).   The Landmark Farmer’s Supply Building will host a nicely sized model train display and candy canes will be handed out to the crowd in front of the Almont.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to help the Nicholson Food Pantry.   The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train visits over 140 communities throughout November with a goal to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger.    “Since the program's inception back in 1999, more than $5.6 million and over 2.45 million pounds of food has been collected in Canada and the United States,” according to the Canadian Pacific Railways’ website http://www.cpr.ca/EN/IN-YOUR-COMMUNITY/HOLIDAY-TRAIN/Page....
The Nicholson Business Association embraces the arrival of this beautifully decorated train as a way to help those in need in the community as well as draw attention to the businesses in town.  Nicholson is home to the Tunkhannock Viaduct, one of the largest concrete structures in the United States—referred locally as the 8th wonder of the modern world.    For more information, please visit www.nicholsonpabusiness.com.
