Follow on Google News | Summit Sports & VOA Michigan Team Up For 2011 'Lift Ticket to Warmth' Coat DriveSporting goods retailer and nonprofit partner to collect and distribute winter jackets to Detroit and Lansing area residents
By: Summit Sports Continuing until December 31, Summit Sports will accept donations of gently used or new adult- and children-sized winter jackets at its four Summit Sports stores (Brighton, Keego Harbor, Lansing and Rochester) as well as Don Thomas Sporthaus (Birmingham) “So many people go without an appropriate coat in the winter and it doesn’t have to be that way,” said Steve Kopitz, President and CEO of Summit Sports, Inc. “Summit Sports is in a position to help bridge the divide. Our partnership with Volunteers of America – Michigan to collect and distribute quality winter jackets will go a long way in helping to keep people warm this winter.” Additionally, at all five stores, anyone donating a jacket will receive $25 off of current year, non-sale jacket, or $10 off the purchase of a current year, non-sale pair of snow pants. No purchase is necessary to donate. Limit one coupon per jacket/pant per purchase. “Volunteers of America is very excited to be part of ‘Lift Ticket to Warmth and working with Summit Sports,’” said Erica Medvinsky, Community Engagement Coordinator at Volunteers of America – Michigan. “Each generous donation acquired through this program translates into one more person who won’t have to be cold this winter. Each donation makes a personal impact.” To learn more about the donation program or to find out how to get a jacket, please call or come into a Summit Sports location, or call Volunteers of America – Michigan at 248-945-0101.
