Follow on Google News | IVF Sunshine Coast Fertility Nurse on World StageSunshine Coast fertility nurse Denise Donati will present research findings at the 14th World Congress on Human Reproduction to be held in Melbourne in November this year.
By: Mike Munter Donati, an IVF Sunshine Coast fertility nurse from Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast in Nambour, will be presenting a paper on "How critical is the timing of insemination for intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles?" Donati is thought to be the only nurse in Australia who is a part owner of a fertility clinic. She took this opportunity because she wanted to make a real difference for her patients. "Having worked in the industry for nearly 20 years, coupled with being able to have a major say in how the business operates, means that I have the freedom to structure the business around what patients need and expect. "As a nurse, being able to fine tune fertility practices so that we strive to increase the chance of success every step of the way is very gratifying." Donati said that she was very honored to have had her paper accepted for presentation at such a prestigious event. She said this reinforces to local couples that insemination results achieved at Fertility Solutions are of a very high standard. "The national average accepted chance of pregnancy per month from an IUI cycle being approximately 10%. At Fertility Solutions, we found that the chance of pregnancy for all IUI cycles in 2010 was 19.6% per month with our overall pregnancy rate for the first 6 months of 2011 being 23.8% per month. Of course there are certain individual factors that may change these results, such as female age." Donati is not only presenting to the attendees of the world congress, but has been asked to present to fertility nurses from Australia and New Zealand at their yearly nurse education day in November of this year. At this conference, Donati will present a paper on "Managing Patient Expectations" "Sometimes you have to walk in a person's shoes before you can truly appreciate what they are going through, so in the presentation I focus a lot on how the patient may be feeling. "It does not hurt for anyone of us to reflect on what the other may be going through and feeling - nurses are no different - reflecting may help make us a better nurse and person." Donati hopes that sharing what she has learned may make a difference to other nurses and - ultimately - their patients.
