New SurgiLance Safety Lancet Bar Codes and Packaging Announced

Nov. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- MediPurpose(r), a master distributor and manufacturer of medical products, today announced a series of revisions to its SurgiLance(r) safety lancet packaging.

The revisions included adoption of new Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) international bar code standards, as well as significant updates to packaging language.

Along with fulfilling U.S. Food & Drug Administration recommendations for 510(k)-cleared medical products (of which SurgiLance had previously received clearance), packaging language translations were expanded into 11 languages.

"As SurgiLance is sold in more than 30 countries, it is crucial that MediPurpose safety medical products meet all international standards for effective and safe use-by both our distribution partners and their healthcare provider partners," said Prather. "Additionally, as a player in the international medical product space, it was equally important that we embrace the new GTIN international standard."

Prather added that adoption of GTIN standards also impacted the expansion of packaging language translations.
