Test Drive a Kia Racecar at Ourisman Chantilly Kia

Nov. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Virginia Kia dealership Ourisman Chantilly Kia wants area racing enthusiasts to test drive two special Kia models from the lot.

Both the 2012 Kia Rio 5-Door and the 2012 Kia Optima SX will take on new roles as racecars sometime next year. The cars–just like the Kia cars driven from the Ourisman lot every day–will compete in the Pirelli World Challenge Championship Sports Car Wars 2012 racing season. Driver names have not been announced. Perhaps a Fairfax, Leesburg, Manassas or Chantilly-area lead foot could decide to become the next World Challenge Kia racecar driver.

Kinetic Motorsports and Kia Motors entered the Rio 5-Door into the new Touring Car B-Spec category of the racing series. A pair of 2012 Kia Optima SX sedans will be entered into the racing series under the GTS (Grand Touring Sport) category. Both models will race using factory engines. The Rio 5-Door hatchback is manufactured with a 1.6L engine rated at 138 horsepower. The Optima SX sedans feature a 2.0L GDI Turbo I4 engine which delivers 274 horsepower.

The Pirelli World Challenge racing season is North America’s top production car-based series. Production cars are only slightly modified for racing purposes. The series is sponsored by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) which strictly limits Production car racing budgets, therefore opening up a new and cost-conscious demographic to the world of auto racing.
