Nov. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Bastrop, Texas – EFC Custom Homes will surprise a worthy family in Central Texas on December 7, 2011 with a one-week extreme home makeover as part of the Emmy award-winning reality TV show, ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

EFC Custom Homes was selected as the contractor for this Extreme build because of its strong ties to the community and dedication to service. Through participation in governmental rehabilitation projects, such as those provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and The HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME Program), owner Eric Christophe and his father, Herman Christophe, know first-hand how restoring a home can help restore a family and a community.

“Bastrop County has suffered greatly as a result of the destructive wildfires, and we feel compelled as citizens of the community to help our neighbors rebuild their lives,” said Eric Christophe.  “When Extreme Makeover: Home Edition contacted us about building a new home for a deserving family, we didn’t give it a second thought. We see this as just the beginning of renewing our community and rebuilding better than before.”

EFC Custom Homes will oversee the project’s construction while ensuring the highest standards of quality craftsmanship, energy efficiency and design as it does with every project it undertakes. For EFC, each building project is a partnership with the homeowners to build a home that fits their lifestyle and tells their story, whether it is a green home, a built-in entertainment center for family movie night, a gourmet kitchen for entertaining or a wraparound porch to relax and share a glass of tea with neighbors. With a striking yet sensible design, EFC Custom Homes is known for highly detailed interiors, premium materials and unique architectural elements.

Several Bastrop County finalists are under consideration for the build, all of which are worthy and have a compelling story. The recipients of the Extreme home will be revealed on December 7, with the signature “Door Knock.” The show’s team leader, Ty Pennington, along with the official designers for the project include Paul DiMeo, Johnny Littlefield, Tracy Hutson and Jeff Dye.

“EFC Custom Homes’ reputation for having a strong allegiance to the community was clear to us,” said Milan Vasic, Senior Producer of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  “After we chose EFC Custom Homes, we learned of Eric’s story of perseverance after a near-fatal automobile collision in 1999. That extraordinary feat, coupled with first-hand experience with the wildfires only reiterated our decision to have EFC Custom Homes represent one of our most unique builds yet.”

The Extreme home in Bastrop County is also being designed locally by Austin-based Donovan R. Davis, AIA with Danze & Davis Architects, Inc. Nationally recognized for innovative design, quality and dependability, Danze & Davis has been providing residential, multifamily and commercial architectural design in Central Texas for more than 50 years.

“This is a unique experience for us,” said Davis. “Not only do we have the opportunity to design a beautiful home for a deserving family, we have the opportunity to participate in a renewing movement for our neighbors in Bastrop County.”

The Extreme build will call on the community to volunteer and donate building supplies to accomplish this challenge of raising a house in one week. For more information on opportunities to get involved, visit www.efccustomhomes.com.

The Extreme build will officially roll into town on Nov. 29 with a Bastrop County Pep Rally at Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend. Details will be available at www.efccustomhomes.com, on Twitter @EFCCustomHomes and www.facebook.com/EFCCustomHomes.
