WellCare Appoints David J. McNichols as State President, Georgia

Nov. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Tampa, Florida (November 16, 2011) – WellCare Health Plans, Inc.  today announced that David J. McNichols has joined the company as state president of WellCare of Georgia. He reports to the president of WellCare’s South Division, Jesse L. Thomas, and his responsibilities include overseeing WellCare’s Georgia operations as well as providing leadership as the company engages in state-wide expansion initiatives.

“David’s experience and knowledge of the Georgia market will provide valuable insight as WellCare enhances its services for Medicare and Medicaid members throughout the state,” said Mr. Thomas. “WellCare expects to make great advancements and offer many opportunities in Georgia, and we welcome David’s support to make our impact successful.”

Before joining WellCare, Mr. McNichols recently served as the vice president, sales for Walgreen’s Small Employers and Individual Markets. From 2008 through 2010, he was the senior executive responsible for the Insured Medical business for the Principal Financial Group. From 2007 until 2008, he was a general manager of Medicare for Cigna, and from 2005 until 2007, Mr. McNichols served as the founding president and CEO for Peach State Health Plan in Georgia. From 2001 until 2005, he held several leadership roles with UnitedHealthcare, including regional president of AmeriChoice, chief marketing officer of AmeriChoice, president and chief executive officer of AmeriChoice’s Florida health plan, and regional vice president of Small Groups for UnitedHealthcare.
