By: Sara McKibben Gregory’s presentation, “Legal Issues Confronting Buyers and Sellers of Counterfeit Parts” will touch on how suppliers and their customers should react when faced with the distribution of electronic components that turn out to be counterfeit. He will focus his audience’s attention upon provisions set forth in the Uniform Commercial Code, proposed sections contained in the AS 5553 and 6081 documents and federal trademark and copyright laws. The symposium is organized by Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) and Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE) at the University of Maryland. This symposium will present the opportunity to learn from and share insight with government, industry and academia addressing the counterfeit problem. The focus is to provide relevant information to professionals that can be used for solving problems today while planning for a different business and technology environment in the future. Gregory practices in the areas of general business matters, corporate, franchise and partnership disputes, and intellectual property and commercial litigation. He is an experienced litigator, with considerable background in intellectual property issues, licensing agreements, trade secret matters and Uniform Commercial Code issues, especially within the electronic components and semi-conductor industries.
