But soon, your doctor by looking at your genes could choose which of the medications on the market will be best for just you. It's called personalized medicine using genetic information to make important treatment decisions.
Danish Expression Genomics has developed a technology that makes it quick, easy and cheaper to find the right medication to the patient. The medication is the same, but it is the ability to only give it to the patients where the medication really works, that is new. This opens the possibility of a much more effective treatment in the future.
Personalized treatments can save society money by making existing therapies more effective. In USA the society would save up to $150 billion on unnecessary medications per year.
